The Lockr is designed to support a verification and rating system that helps users evaluate the trustworthiness and safety of profiles. Because verification requires collection of sensitive personal identity data, this Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect that information.
2. What data we collect
- A. Account data — username, email, display name, profile photo, public bio, social handles and any optional profile fields you choose to provide.
- B. Verification / ID Data — government-issued ID (driver license, passport, state ID, etc.), selfie or liveness capture, date of birth, name as shown on ID. This information may be required for account verification.
- C. Ratings & Safety Data — ratings, reviews, moderation notes, uploaded screenshots or links, flags/reports submitted by users relating to safety or trust.
- D. Usage & Device Data — IP address, device identifiers, cookies, browser type, and analytics about how you use the Service.
- E. Communications — messages between users, support requests, and communications you choose to send to us.
3. Why we collect Verification / ID Data
We collect ID and verification data to:
- Confirm age and identity (you must be 18+ to use The Lockr).
- Support trust & safety by enabling verified users to review a verified identity before granting access to ratings or additional profile information.
- Prevent fraud, impersonation, and abuse.
- Comply with legal obligations (where applicable).
Submission of ID for verification is voluntary but required if you want to be marked as a "Verified" user and to access certain features of the Service.
4. How we use your Verification Data
- We use ID data solely for identity verification and safety review.
- We store a hashed/secured record that a user is verified and the date of verification. When possible we store minimal metadata rather than raw images.
- In some workflows we retain a securely encrypted copy of the submitted ID for a limited period to support re-verification, dispute resolution, or to comply with legal requests.
5. Storage, Security & Retention
Security:
- Verification data is stored encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Access to raw verification images is strictly limited to authorized verification personnel and automated verification systems.
- We use role-based access controls, audit logs, and periodic access reviews.
Retention:
- If you are verified, we retain the minimal verification record (e.g., verification status, date) indefinitely unless you request deletion or close your account.
- Raw ID images and selfies are retained for a limited period (e.g., up to 180 days) except where needed longer for dispute resolution, safety investigations, or legal obligations.
- When data is no longer needed we securely delete or irreversibly destroy it.
6. Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your identity data. We share verification data only as described below:
- Service providers: encrypted data may be accessed by third-party processors (identity verification vendors, hosting providers) under contract to provide services; they are bound to protect the data.
- Verification access: your verification status ("Verified") and non-sensitive verification metadata may be visible to users as part of the feature that lets them decide whether to grant access to rating tools.
- Legal requests: we will disclose information to law enforcement, courts, or government authorities when required by law, or to protect rights, property or safety.
- Safety investigations: in investigations of harassment, exploitation, criminal activity, or serious policy violations we may share relevant verification materials with affected parties, safety teams, or law enforcement as permitted by law.
7. User Controls, Rights & Requests
- Access: you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: you may correct inaccurate information on your profile or verification materials.
- Deletion: you may request deletion of your account and personal data; note that deletion may limit or remove your access to the Service and that we may retain limited records to comply with legal obligations or for fraud prevention.
- Withdraw consent: you may withdraw consent for optional processing, but we may still process data when necessary for legal compliance or to provide core services.
To make requests, contact us.
12. Data Breach Notification
If we experience a security breach affecting your Verification Data we will:
- Notify impacted users without undue delay in accordance with applicable law.
- Provide details on what happened, what data was affected, and steps we recommend users take to protect themselves.
- Cooperate with authorities and take remediation steps.
